Medicare Annual Election Period is Almost Here! Let’s Get You Ready.
If you are new to Medicare or already have experience with Medicare, or if you are helping a family member, it’s important for you to:
Understand your Medicare options
Find out how and when you can enroll
Get the most value out of your health care
Get help choosing the coverage option that is right for you
Getting Started – ask yourself these important questions and write down the answers:
What type of plan do you have?
What do you like about your coverage?
Why do you want to keep or change your plan?
What would you like to add to your current coverage?
Make note of the above elements of your current plan that work or don’t work for you or your family member; jot down as best as you can the “why or why not” reasoning.
Gather important information:
Doctors and Specialists - note names and addresses, medical group
Prescriptions – Note name, dose, and frequency
Note* Keep your protected health information to yourself until you are ready to check if doctors are in network and prescriptions in formulary for the plans you are considering
Open Enrollment – Important Dates
October 1, 2022:
Start comparing your current coverage with other options
October 15, 2022 through December 7, 2022
If you decide to change your Medicare Coverage, make the change for 2023 during this Open Enrollment Period
January 1st 2023:
New Coverage begins if you made a change
If you kept your current coverage and your plan’s cost and/or benefits changed, those changes also start on this date
Review Plan Materials
January 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023:
If you are in a Medicare Advantage Plan:
You can change to another MAPD or return to Original Medicare once during this period
Any changes will be effective the first of the month after the plan gets your request
